6.0 Mile Surprise Run – 1-5-13

Yesterday I was feeling pretty damn miserable, enough that I didn’t even think about running very much. I did think about it, but sanity prevailed and I just stayed inside most of the day – only doing my Bennie walks, which have to be done.

I know that I felt a LOT better this morning, but I also knew that I wasn’t 100%, so I figured that I would take Bennie for his morning walk and figure it out from there. The walk was good and I decided to do my run right after. Down-back is a lot of white ice (as you can see in the photo), with a thin patch of dirt down the middle in places, so this forced me to go slow and I never picked up the pace.

When I started out, I thought I would just do a 3.0 mile run, when I got to my turn-around, I was still feeling pretty good even though, the winds were blowing in my face at over 20 mph, so I kept going. I figured 5.0 would be a good distance, then when I got back to the top of Steven’s Hill, I decided to do one more as my contribution to the #ChillyChallenge.

It was a nice recovery run for being sick yesterday

Shoes: Brooks PureFlow – They just didn’t feel comfortable today. My right foot felt cramped, I am going to take out the insole and replace it with my old Nike Free Insoles and see if those help make the shoes more comfortable for me.

Last Night’s Supper: 1/2 Homemade Pizza (Pepperoni, Chives & Green pepper), Potato chips, Chocolate Chip Cook Whoopie Pie, Sam Adams Beer

Breakfast: Black Coffee, 1/3 Cup Oatmeal, 1/3 Cup Blueberries, Flax Seeds, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground ginger, medium banana, 2 clementines

Vitamins: Simply Right Mature Men MultiVitamin, Simply Right Glucosamine HCI 1500 mg, Swanson High potency Dry Vitamin D-3 – 1,000 iu, Swanson Turmeric 720 mg, Swanson Bee Propolis 550 mg
