I didn’t do the my typical Wednesday CMS Wednesday “nooner” group run today. Instead I was on call, if I had to run in and drive SD1 home after her appointment today – which I did.
Earlier I had walked over 2.5 miles on the snowmobile trails up back and found out they were pretty heavily frozen and iced over in many spots. I wouldn’t want to run on them without screw shoes, YakTrax or something similar on my feet. I have some pretty heavy-duty LL Bean insulated pack boots with screws in the bottom and looking back on most of the walk, the only tracks I was making on the snowmobile trail was with the screw heads.
Weather has been the limiting factor when running outside lately, but today it was much more seasonable. Between 15-19F with a real feel in the single-digits. Which was still cold, but at least runnable, with: running tights, compression shorts, 2 – L/S tech shirts, winter running jacket, mittens with glove liners, synthetic head band, flourescent green ball cap. Tuned out that I was dressed just right for the conditions. I didn’t sweat very much, but at the same time, I never felt very cold during the run either, even though the wind was in my face most of the way.
