Gotta Be Flexible Speed work Session – RunLog 2-10-14

In spite of my sort of whiner post this morning – I just want to run, my current training plan and my routine for Mondays is to do a speed workout on the treadmill at Champions.

My plan called for a 80-90 minute progression run with the last 20 minutes fast. To be honest, I didn’t feel like running that long today, I have been fighting a bug  and decided to do 8-12 quarter-mile intervals (which is a strength for me), with a bail point after either 4 or 8 fast reps if I didn’t feel all that great.

I was doing really good until the 2.0 mile mark when I started to get that feeling that no runner enjoys – I had to go to bathroom and the feeling didn’t go away. I made it to 3.0 miles and I had to stop and go take a seat for a few minutes. This really interrupted my interval workout and took me out the zone, I gotten into.

I Just Want To Run

You know something.

I just want to run.

I really don’t give a rat’s ass about all the other stuff I am supposed to do to be a better runner:

  • I don’t want to lift weights,
  • I don’t want to ride a bike,
  • I don’t want to swim,
  • I don’t want to cross train,
  • I don’t want to do yoga
  • I don’t want to stretch
  • I don’t want to eat better, actually part of why I run is so I don’t worry so much about what I eat
  • I don’t want or need to use drugs, hormones or other PED’s, unless you count my Vitamin D or daily multi-vitamin

I just want to run – to run!
