Another Treadmill Run Day – RunLog 2-21-14

Just a bit nasty out there
Just a bit nasty out there

Today the weather was just nasty – freezing rain, (which is an automatic – no go) so it meant another treadmill run.

Not crazy about it, but it was the right thing to do for me.

Now I was also supposed to do my weekly long run and I had planned on at least 13, needless to say it didn’t happen.

I did 13.1 on the treadmill last week due to the crappy weather and I’m sorry, well not really but the prospect of  running that far on the treadmill to be honest – sucked and was in the “no way today category!”

I decided to do a faster, but shorter progression run and although I have battled a low-grade – yech most of the week – I wanted to push myself and either end up upside down against the back rail or feel a lot better after the run.

The best thing about running today – No PAIN!!!

My Achilles didn’t hurt, my hamstrings didn’t hurt, my hips didn’t, my Tailor’s Bunionette didn’t hurt and you know something it FELT GREAT to not hurt, except for that oxygen debt thing and burning in the legs from being able to push my ass harder than usual the second half of the run.

The TomTom GPS watch didn’t like the changing of pace nearly as much, as it did on a specific steady pace, so I have to remember that when doing treadmill workouts.

Overall I was very happy with my effort during this run and how I felt during and afterwards.

  1. Excellent! Glad to hear you had no pain today! That is huge! Sadly it had to be inside rather than outdoors … but we take what we can get, right? I was saying today that with everything else going on I have not been able to take advantage of the warm weather like I would have preferred before it nose-dives again early next week. But we do what we can.

    1. Thanks Mike! It seems that I can run pain free as long as I keep it under the 7-8 mile mark, once past that point the nagging niggles come around to nibble. The treadmill is a tool to get miles in, the outdoors is to reclaim your soul, especially the trails. You will get out there soon enough and hopefully after this next round of lower temps it finally starts to warm-up a bit.
