No there were no Christmas epiphanies that I heard about or saw and the world didn’t stop turning on its Merry way to wherever it is going to go. The little blue marble is pretty much the same as it was before all the Holiday time started.
People are still being born, living and dying (too many so it seems)…technology is different, better and more invasive, shopping is easier and most of us are just another day deeper in debt…in other words, life goes on and on and on.
Okay so much for the philosophical bullshit, yeah I can think deep thoughts and all that other stuff when I want to, but most of the time it doesn’t pay and hurts my head when people who don’t see the world the same way I do, figuratively smack me around. 🙂
So I will get back to the hum drum reality of enjoying being an old fart, who has a pretty damn good life and am still having fun being a pain in the arse more often than I need to be. Even if the life I lead is rather bland and boring according to the “experts”, who don’t know nearly as much as they think they might and think too much about how they think others should live “in their shadow”.
For me it means getting back to work at my paltry little job, figuring out a temporary routine, while we go to a winter break schedule and adding in all the new stuff that I accumulated on Gross Overconsumption Day to my daily routine, running and rotation – which I believe should be pretty interesting!
I hope that you and yours had a good Holiday and that you get to spend time with the ones you love most over the next week or so, while taking a break from the daily grind. Recharge the batteries, enjoy the time together, get outside to breathe real air and smile. It does a face good. 😉
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt, crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can,
tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely,
with too high a spirit to be cumbered
with your old nonsense. Ralph Waldo Emerson
