A Badly Needed Rest Day – MT WK3 D6
Some days in a marathon training cycle are pretty damn mundane and that is what today ended up being.
This piece of “the land” is gonna look a LOT different in about 4 months, as a result of this morning’s trip South.
But there will be more on that in other posts.
Let’s see how boring my day was, err mundane.
After Thursday’s 11.0 miler and yesterday’s accidental faster run, my body, legs and mind were all pretty well beat and needed some time to recover. Since I had chauffeur duty down to Auburn this morning, I figured that today would be the perfect day to not run or workout.
You know have one of those elusive “rest” days.
Bennie got his first and long walks in before we left, so I wasn’t a complete slug and then I drove south.
After getting back from down south around 1:00 this afternoon, we ate lunch and I took my 30 minute nap. Then I woke up puttered around a bit, massaged my legs with the auto polisher, sat down to watch NatGeo on the TV and promptly fell asleep again for about an hour.
I guess that I really, really needed to rest.
While nothing exciting happened today, no new trail shoes suddenly showed up (maybe next week) and no running to write about, it was all about doing what I needed to do today – rest. That have a day where I didn’t have to do anything overly taxing, and let the body, and the mind relax a little for a change.
Can’t you tell by the brevity of this post – it sure is not my typical opus monologue. 🙂
The best part is that we are getting some rain for a change – a nice drenching rain. We needed that as much or more than I needed the rest day. 🙂
I don’t know if it is good or bad, but even on a “rest day”, I still got in over 11,000 steps.
